Comments: This painting is inscribed with title verso, possibly in Lionel’s hand. The provenance is Peter Lindsay, son of Percy Lindsay and the painting sat on the family mantelpiece for decades. Despite the similarity to Percy’s mining scenes of 1893, the family had no doubts it was by Percy’s brother Lionel.
