Exhibited: Possibly as A Study at the Royal Art Society of NSW, 1917 annual exhibition, number 92, 5gns.
Comments: Banks began exhibiting at the RAS in 1912 with a black and white illustration and two small landscape sketches. By the 1920s his highly decorative oils with rich impasto of women in oriental outfits, often posed at the beach, were among the highest-priced works at the RAS. Manly Oriental was priced at 50 guineas in 1923 and Glorious Autumn was 100 guineas in 1929.�
